Housing and Other Resources

Due to higher land values, the average family moving to Hawaii lives in a smaller house or apartment than they are accustomed to on the mainland. Major appliances are customarily furnished.

The average studio apartment in Honolulu rents from about $900 a month and up, $950 - $1,200 for a one-bedroom unit, $1,200 and up for a two-bedroom unit and $1,600 and up for a three bedroom house. The median condo price on Oahu for the second quarter of 2004 was $205,000 and $451,000 for the median house price, according to the Honolulu Board of Realtors.

Additional information may be obtained by visiting the "Helpful Links" section of this web site. (Look for the link on the left side of this page.) There you will find many excellent resources listed under "Living in Hawaii."
