The Hawaii Pharmacists Association Names Queen's Pharmacy Staff Members as Top Professionals |
 |
Joy Matsuyama |
The Hawaii Pharmacists Association (HPhA) has named a Queen's pharmacist and pharmacist technician tops in the state. Joy Matsuyama, PharmD, of Pharmacy Services has been named Health System Pharmacist of the Year, and Jocelyn Fernandez of the Physicians Office Building I Pharmacy is Technician of the Year. Both will be honored at the HPhA General Membership Meeting to be held on October 29, 2002. The HPhA is the premier pharmacy association in the State of Hawaii.
At Queen's for 6 years, Joy Matsuyama, PharmD, was President of the HPhA last year. The HPhA's mission is to advance public health by promoting the professional interests of pharmacists and to foster rational drug use through public policy. During Matsuyama's tenure as president, the HPhA passed a bill to expand pharmacy practice roles in Hawaii, and helped develop HMSA's Managing Your Medications program. The Association also began and continues to work on mandatory continuing education for pharmacists.
Jocelyn Fernandez is widely known by colleagues and customers as having high work ethic standards for herself and giving exemplary customer service. "Jocelyn consistently performs beyond her job description," says Pharmacy Supervisor Kathy Hirano. Fernandez is extremely knowledgeable and sets many self-improvement goals for herself. Although she's been at POB I for just two years, she fits in so well that co-workers and customers feel as though she's been there a long time.
The Queen's Medical Center congratulates both Joy Matsuyama and Jocelyn Fernandez for outstanding work and well-earned recognition. |
