New Location for the Comprehensive Weight Management Program at The Queen's Medical Center Will Better Serve Patients |

The Queen's Comprehensive Weight Management Team consists of physicians, clinical psychologists and registered dietitians who specialize in nutrition, fitness and lifestyle management.

The Queen's Comprehensive Weight Management Program (CWMP) recently celebrated its brand new location in the Physicians Office Building I (POB I). The program was previously located across from the Queen Emma Clinics in the heart of the medical center. The new space—complete with exam rooms, consultation rooms and doctors' offices—is near the Café Queen's on the 3rd floor (street level) of POB I. If you are entering the POB I parking garage by car from Lusitana St., the CWMP is the first door on your right alongside the road as you approach POB I (before the elevators and the POB I Pharmacy).
The new location allows patients to be dropped off at curbside before entering the parking garage. But whether they are dropped off or park, patients won't have to walk through the hospital to get to the CWMP. The space is also more functional, with wider doors, chairs and restroom facilities. Program and surgical director Kenric Murayama, MD, says the larger space will be able to accommodate a rapidly growing number of new patients.
The CWMP is comprehensive in every sense of the word. Whether you want to lose 10 or 100 pounds or more, everyone's weight loss needs can be met by the three components (or a combination) of the CWMP:
Nutrition, fitness and lifestyle management
Meal Replacement Program
Gastric bypass surgery.
A person who joins the program is first evaluated by the CWMP team. Health professionals then design a medically sound plan that is best for you and your body. Those who come to the CWMP have access to clinical psychologists, registered dietitians and physicians who specialize in nutrition, fitness and lifestyle management. "It's important to remember," says medical director Edie Ramsdell, MD, "that if a person has high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes or other health problems, embarking on a weight loss program without sound medical guidance can be dangerous."
To learn about any part of the program, all are invited to a free presentation held once a month. To find out when the next presentation will be held or for more information about the CWMP, call 808.537.SLIM (7546). The CWMP is open Mondays through Fridays, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
