Queen Emma Nursing Institute

The Queen Emma Nursing Institute is a center of excellence for professional nursing practice at The Queen's Medical Center. Within the framework of the QMC mission and shared values of Compassion, Aloha, Respect and Excellence, the Queen Emma Nursing Institute will promote professional nursing practice by focusing on workforce development, research, professional practice and education in a stimulating professional environment.

The purpose of the Queen Emma Nursing Institute is to promote excellence in patient care and patient outcomes through excellence in nursing care and nursing workforce. Specific goals are to:

Provide leadership in nursing workforce development

Enhance professional nursing practice

Document excellence in clinical research

Expand educational opportunities for nurses

The Queen Emma Nursing Institute was funded in part by the Queen Emma Foundation, which has committed a total of $2.5 million, or $500,000 per year for five years. This investment will enhance distinction in professional nursing practice and innovative strategies in nursing education and research, leading to improved outcomes for the patients whom QMC is privileged to serve.
