Federal Court Dismisses Kaiser's Lawsuit Against Queen's

HONOLULU – A federal court yesterday dismissed Kaiser’s lawsuit against The Queen’s Health Systems with prejudice.

“Queen’s deeply appreciates United States Federal Court District Judge Derrick K. Watson’s careful review of the facts and the law,” said Mich Riccioni, Chief Financial Officer of The Queen’s Health Systems.

The lawsuit was filed by Kaiser after a Hospital Services Agreement between Queen’s and Kaiser expired on May 30, 2019.  Queen’s attempted to reach a new agreement with Kaiser, but the parties were unable to come to terms on a new contract. In response to the lawsuit, Queen’s filed a Motion to Dismiss and asked the Court to dismiss Kaiser’s claims in their entirety.

That request was granted.

“Queen’s has been part of the community for more than 160 years, and we will continue to treat all patients who come to us for health care services,” said Riccioni.
