06.23.2020

An outdoor ceremony that incorporated physical distancing and facemasks was the setting today as Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital President Cindy Kamikawa named Jeannette Oslund, surgical nurse, Employee of the Year, and emergency room nurse Shelby Hancock and supply lead Jenna Speetgens as Employees of the Quarter.

Jeannette Oslund was recognized for being an exemplary employee, a team player, and someone who is always a champion for her patients.  “Jeannette goes above and beyond with a positive attitude, and is always willing to help out others and take on extra tasks,” said Pat Dunham, surgical services manager.  “She is caring, compassionate, and considerate with all of her patients and colleagues.”

Shelby Hancock, an emergency room nurse, was selected Employee of the Quarter for January – March.  According to Kim Bastien, ER manager, “Shelby is a strong team player who positively influences everyone around her with her calm approach to challenges and problem-solving.  She has been a key player in the success of opening the new ER as well as the changes required by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Jenna Speetgens, supply chain lead, was recognized as Employee of the Quarter for April-June for the critical role she played in improving QNHCH supply chain systems.  She lead the transition to a new system that helps assure clinical departments have the appropriate supplies, and she was instrumental in keeping the hospital supplied during the pandemic. She has streamlined processes and increased efficiencies and accuracy, all while assuring excellent customer service.
