The Queen's Health Systems Launches COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic-Blaisdell

01.25.2021

HONOLULU – The Queen’s Health Systems today launched its first mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic aimed at vaccinating kupuna 75 years of age and older. The clinic at the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall opened at 8:00 am and will run until 6:30 pm every day except Tuesdays.
Also today, state and city leaders were able to tour the Blaisdell clinic and see firsthand the efforts that were put in to make the process smooth, safe and efficient. More than 80 people are helping to staff the clinic.

“We really appreciate the efforts of everyone at The Queen’s Health Systems in standing up this vaccination clinic in such a short amount of time,” said House Speaker Scott Saiki. “The strong partnerships between the state and the city helped move this effort forward quickly. We know that there is strong demand from the community in vaccinating more people quickly and work continues on that front.”

“We are proud to be supporting The Queen’s Health Systems and the Department of Health in standing up the city’s Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall as a community vaccination site,” said Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “Mahalo to the entire Queen’s team for their work to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community from this deadly virus. This is truly an exciting step forward for the City and County of Honolulu.”

“We are so proud to launch this clinic today. Our state and city leaders have been instrumental in providing us with the support we need to make this happen,” said Jill Hoggard Green, PhD, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Queen’s Health Systems. “We could not have done it without them. I also want to thank our caregivers who have been doing a wonderful job at ensuring that one of our most vulnerable populations is cared for.”

So far, more than 12,000 appointments have been scheduled for the Blaisdell clinic. The Queen’s Health Systems has already administered more than 20,000 vaccine doses to employees, community health care professionals, people aged 75 and older, and essential workers across the state. That number includes the 550 doses that were given to kupuna during a soft launch of the Blaisdell Clinic on Saturday, January 23.
