The APRN functions as an expert practitioner with educator consultant, researcher and leadership role components and functions autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to enhance the quality of nursing practice and patient care. Provides health care that includes services to individuals and families which emphasize health promotion, disease prevention, and diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases.

The RN Case Managers work closely with our staff RNs, physicians, Care Coordination & Ancillary staffs, patients and their families in planning for our patients to be discharged to the next step in their continuum of care. As part of the Discharge Planning Team, the Case Managers ensure that our patients are receiving the appropriate services for their diagnoses.

Performs phlebotomy & other specimen collections, accessioning (data entry), the processing of specimens, forensic toxicology: specimen collections, Breath Alcohol Testing etc. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. May also perform Point-of-Care and/or waived testing.

Performs patient care duties and treatment based on specific needs under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician. Administers an documents prescribed medications and medical treatment as ordered by the physician. One year experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting highly preferred. (BLS/HCP by AHA required)

Independently performs qualitative and quantitative tests in assigned section(s), following established guidelines and predetermined criteria. Performs tests and calculations, documents and reports results. Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment. Recognizes abnormal or unusual pre-analytical, post-analytical and post-analytical problems.

Performs a variety of duties pertaining to patient care, patient transportation, material and supply distribution and equipment assembly. Prepares for and assists nurses and physicians with selected procedures, taking and recording patient temperature, blood pressure, assisting with ambulation, transfer of patients, and responding to patient call lights. Recent experience in an acute care setting preferred. (BLS/HCP by AHA required)

Performs duties related to the scheduling and processing of patients for medical services according to established guidelines. Provides financial assistance to patients in identifying resources to cover anticipated clinic and medical center charges not covered by health plan, insurance, or other sources.

Performs administrative and related patient care functions and activities to support the physician practice as assigned, such as registration, scheduling and checks in patients. Will answers phones, billing and coding and order supplies. Assists with patient care duties as assigned, communicates pertinent information to patient and family, documents patient’s chart, assists in maintenance of exam rooms, medical equipment and supplies. Experience to demonstrate knowledge of pharmacology, one year direct patient care experience and completion of an accredited MA program. (BLS/HCP by AHA required)

Our Psychiatric Assistants assist our Behavioral Healthcare team in providing inpatient behavior health care. Under the direction of our Behavioral Health RNs, Psychiatric Assistants help our patients with coping and providing stability to assist with their recovery.

At Queen’s, RNs play an important role in delivering excellent patient care to the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin. Lokomaika’i is the philosophy that guides our nursing model. It focuses on principles of collaboration and patient/family centered care that is culturally sensitive and emphasizes the importance of education.

The Medical Social Workers work closely with our patients and their families to plan for discharge from the acute care setting. In coordination with our Case Managers, direct patient care providers, the patients and families, Medical Social Workers partner with community resources to ensure that our patients receive the right level of care after their inpatient stay.

Performs defined preparatory portions of laboratory procedures under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. Performs clerical activities, phlebotomy and/or other duties as assigned. May perform waived, Provider Performed Microscopy Procedures (PPMP), and Point of Care Testing (POCT) as authorized by CLIA qualifications and the laboratory director.
