Identify the Symptoms

Reported symptoms have ranged from mild to severe illness and death for those with confirmed COVID-19. Signs of COVID-19 include coughing, fever and shortness of breath.

If you are sick:

  • CALL BEFORE YOU VISIT A DOCTOR. Let your medical provider know if you think you may have COVID-19.
  • Avoid public areas and transportation.
  • Stay away from others, including animals.
  • Wear a facemask. If you are NOT sick, you do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes using a tissue.
  • Clean your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid sharing personal household items like dishes, towels, bedding, etc.
  • Clean highly touched surfaces every day like tabletops, doorknobs, phones, tablets, etc.
