An Oahu mother expresses her frustration with the long wait times in obtaining the result of a COVID-19 test for her daughter.  Queen's released the following statement:

“We share in the concern with obtaining test results quickly and are working to increase our ability to process more tests locally.  Almost all COVID-19 tests are being sent to the mainland at this point.  Nationally the demand for testing has caused turnaround times to be stretched beyond the standard 3-5 days. We too are anxious to receive test results so we can provide the most appropriate care.  Queen’s is committed to providing patients with test results as soon as they are available.”

THE QUEEN’S HEALTH SYSTEMS DONATES $500,000 TO HAWAII HOMELESS HEALTHCARE HUI (H4), A LOCAL NON-PROFIT, TO ASSIST WITH HOMELESS SERVICES

Money will help H4 add to its clinical staff to assist homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond

HONOLULU – Recognizing the need to support Hawaii’s homeless community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Queen’s Health Systems has donated $500,000 to H4, a local non-profit organization.  H4 provides homeless individuals access to medical care and social services.

The money will help support additional clinical positions, resources, supplies, and other organizational needs.  “Queen’s is pleased to support H4 in its efforts to care for the homeless.  Working hand in hand with the community, we are striving to meet the needs of the homeless every day, particularly during this pandemic.  We appreciate the work H4 has and will continue to do in the future knowing that there is an organization in the state of Hawaii that truly still lives to support the mission of our founders Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV,” said Jill Hoggard Green, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Queen’s Health Systems.

“We are grateful to Queen’s for their support.  This donation will enable us to increase our clinical staffing and assist more individuals in need of medical and social services,” said Dr. Scott Miscovich, President and co-founder of H4.

H4 operates three walk-in clinics, two in urban Honolulu and one in Kaneohe.  Each clinic is staffed by a physician or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), and supported by a medical assistant and/or care coordinator.  Medical services include urgent care, wound care, medication management, vaccinations, and minor procedures.  In addition, treatment for mental illness and substance abuse is provided, either directly or through a referral.  Social services such as referrals for housing and employment are also offered.
