November is World Diabetes Month. Preventing, detecting and managing the condition for you and your loved ones are key to a healthy lifestyle. The most common form of diabetes is type 2. It occurs when your blood sugar is too high and your body does not make enough insulin, or does not use insulin well. Type 2 diabetes can lead to life-threatening conditions, so it is important to know if you are at risk for the disease.

Key risk factors for type 2 diabetes are:

  • Overweight and obesity
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Lack of exercise
  • Family history of the disease
  • High blood pressure

Take this test to find out if you are at risk and discuss it with your doctor.

If you have diabetes, we can help you manage your condition and improve your quality of life. Ask your doctor about Queen’s Diabetes Management & Education Center and learn more about the services we provide.
