Patient Meal Services

  • As part of admission to the hospital, every patient receives a doctor’s order for what type of diet should be eaten.
  • A “regular” diet means that there are no diet restrictions for health reasons. Patients on regular diets can select choices from the daily menu.
  •  Menu items are chosen by a committee of dietitians and food preparation specialists to ensure a variety of healthy foods to suit popular tastes.

Special Diet Planning

  • Medical conditions sometimes require special diets and patients with these restrictions do have the option to choose their own meals, with recommendations from their care providers.
  • Special diets are mainly implemented in the hospital, but some patients may need to continue the diet after they return home.
  • When requested, dietitians can provide information about special diets to patients and their families to assist in at-home recovery.
