QHS Names Guy Nitta VP of Finance at QHS, Matthew Lam Director of System Finance Center of Excellence at QHS, Jason Austria Director of Ambulatory Nursing and Professional Practice at QMC

HONOLULU – The Queen’s Health System (QHS) has announced the following appointments.

Guy Nitta

Guy Nitta has been promoted to Vice President of Finance at QHS.

Nitta is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction over the organization’s financial activities with particular focus on the financial results of its flagship, The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC). He also continues to lead financial planning, decision support and business analytics functions.

Nitta previously spent six years as Director of System Financial Planning, overseeing financial analysis, decision support services, business analytics, tax and treasury. Prior to joining QHS, he was the Director of Budgets and Financial Analysis at Hawaiian Electric, served as Finance Manager at AT&T in Hawai‘i, and worked in the audit department at Arthur Andersen’s Honolulu office.

Nitta earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Matthew Lam

Matthew Lam has been promoted to Director of System Finance Center of Excellence at QHS.

In his new role, Lam will support financial planning and analysis, decision support services, business analytics, and business planning and development. He has been with QHS since 2013, and served as Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for the last four years.

Prior to joining QHS, Lam held general accounting roles in the insurance and marketing/advertising industries in Honolulu and San Francisco.

The Kamehameha Schools graduate earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, as well as his Master of Business Administration with a focus on health care management, from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Jason Austria

Jason Austria has been promoted to Director of Ambulatory Nursing and Professional Practice at The Queen’s Medical Center.

Austria oversees all aspects of professional practice for system-wide ambulatory nursing staff to enhance the quality of nursing practice and patient care. He will also develop collaborative partnerships with community organizations and nursing schools to ensure program success.

Austria has been with QMC for more than 10 years, serving as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Comprehensive Care Unit, as a patient care coordinator for The Queen’s Heart Institute, and as the Practice Manager for the North and Central Oʻahu regional network of primary care clinics. He and his team were instrumental in expanding high-quality primary care in these communities. He previously held critical care RN positions at Adventist Health Castle and Kaiser Permanente.

Austria received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University, and his Master’s in Nursing from Baylor University. He is pursuing his Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Chaminade University and serves in the U.S. Army Reserve.
