The Queen’s Medical Center – Manamana/Punchbowl (Queen’s) and The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu (Queen’s – West) have each received a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of “A” for Spring 2023. This national distinction recognizes both hospitals’ achievements in protecting patients from harm and error.

“Once again our caregivers continue to demonstrate their commitment to providing safe, high-quality, compassionate care to all of our patients,” said Jill Hoggard Green, PhD, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer at The Queen’s Health System. “This recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication.  We will continue to always put our patients first by keeping their safety and well-being as our highest priority.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as the systems that hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“Every day we continue to strive for better outcomes for our patients by implementing best practices into our daily work as we evolve our care,” said Dr. Todd Allen, Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at The Queen’s Health System.  “We are constantly looking for innovative ways to care for our patients, while keeping safety at the forefront, so they are able to receive the care they deserve.

Queen’s and Queen’s-West also received “A” grades during the Fall of 2022.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
