The Queen’s Health Systems (Queen’s) has announced the appointment of Sondra Leiggi Brandon as Chief Operating Officer at The Queen’s Medical Center – Kahi Mohala (QMC – Kahi Mohala).
Leiggi Brandon will also continue to serve as Vice President of the Behavioral Health and Medicine clinical programs for Queen’s. She is responsible for developing and implementing business and strategic plans for behavioral health and medicine services and programs across the continuum of care.
Leiggi Brandon joined the organization in 2016 as a psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and nurse manager of telemetry at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu, before being promoted to Director of Behavioral Health for QMC. She has come full circle with her COO role at QMC – Kahi Mohala, as she began her career as a graduate nurse at that facility in 2009 while finishing her master’s degree in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Hawai‘i. She also has a master’s degree in public health from Loma Linda University, a post-master’s certificate as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Johns Hopkins, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in the executive track/MBA dual degree program from Johns Hopkins.
Earlier this year, Leiggi Brandon was awarded one of the highest honors a nurse can receive – election as an American Academy of Nursing Fellow. As an inductee, she represents the continued influence that nurses have on ensuring innovative, evidence-informed solutions that champion health and well-being in our communities.
Leiggi Brandon was previously recognized by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of its “20 for the Next 20” (2021) and as an Omidyar Fellow (2019).
