Diabetes Management & Education Center

The Diabetes Management and Education Center at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu helps individuals who are newly diagnosed with diabetes, or those who need new lifestyle strategies, successfully manage their condition with achievable plans. Having the right team by your side makes a difference in managing your diabetes. Our care team of skilled health professionals and certified diabetes educators will work with you and your primary care provider to help better control your condition.

Our Services

We help individuals with pre-diabetes to learn lifestyle changes to prevent Diabetes through a group education session.

The Diabetes Management and Education Center at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu provides a variety of services for patients with diabetes. Part of our care team’s approach includes new medications and technology, as well as fresh techniques and perspectives on managing type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. 

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support

We help individuals who are newly diagnosed with diabetes and those who are in need of new strategies to successfully manage their existing condition. We offer:

Medical Management

Nurse practitioners specializing in diabetes care will work with you and your primary care provider, obstetrician or endocrinologist to start and adjust medication and monitoring. Your treatment will be personalized to address your medical conditions, schedule, activity level and lifestyle.

Medical Nutrition Therapy and Dietary Counseling

A registered dietitian with experience in diabetes care and education will help you integrate nutrition and diabetes self-management skills into your daily routine. Appointments are available for nutrition and healthy eating plans to address other conditions.

Diabetes in Pregnancy Program

A diabetes nurse educator or registered dietitian assists women with pre-existing diabetes or gestational diabetes, helping them learn about glucose monitoring, healthy eating and diabetes care during pregnancy. Ongoing support is provided throughout pregnancy.
