The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu is home to Kula, the star of the Facility Dog Program.

Scientific research has shown that a patient’s interaction with an animal can provide positive physical and emotional benefits. It can reduce stress levels and invoke a sense of well-being.

Our Facility Dogs and owners are trained and certified. The dogs brighten the day for just about everyone including patients, visitors and staff alike. Queen’s – West Oahu works with the Assistance Dogs of Hawaii to ensure that the animal (and handler) has successfully completed training. Queen’s – West Oahu’s Security Department also utilizes a K-9 security dog unit that works to keep the campus safe for patients and visitors.
