HONOLULU – The Queen’s Health System (QHS) has named a new vice president and two new directors.
Bruce Nakaoka has been named Vice President of Queen Emma Land Company (QEL). He takes over for Les Goya, who retired at the end of 2019 after 26 years with the organization.
Nakaoka joined QEL as Director of Asset Management in May 2014 and has been integral to the continued execution of the company’s Waikiki Strategic Asset Management plan. He also has been an important resource to QHS, providing support for real estate transactions and matters as required. He will be responsible for directing initiatives to strengthen and grow QEL’s legacy real estate portfolio.
Nakaoka earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and received the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. He previously served as Managing Director of Tradewind Capital Group; Co-Founder of MN Capital Partners; and Director of Real Estate Investments and Appraisal at Kamehameha Schools/Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate.
Nakaoka is involved with various community organizations, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii, McKinley High School Foundation, Institute for Human Services, and Waikiki Business Improvement District.
Florence Agos has been named Director of Care Transition and Clinic Services at The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oʻahu (QMC-West Oʻahu).
Agos will be responsible for Care Coordination, Patient Flow, Utilization Management, Clinical Documentation, and Outpatient Clinics which include the Sullivan Care Center. In addition, she will provide clinical and activation oversight of the various expanding outpatient services.
Agos began her nursing career at The Queen’s Medical Center’s Punchbowl campus in 2002, after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University. She was promoted to Clinical Operations Manager in 2012 and became a Nurse Manager in 2014. In 2015, Agos earned her Master of Science in Nursing Executive Leadership at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She transitioned to QMC-West O‘ahu in July 2019 and played a key role in the opening of the West Orthopedic Center.
Evangelina Huxford has been named Director of Surgical Services at The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oʻahu.
Huxford was previously at the University of Cincinnati Health, where she served as the Director of Operative Services overseeing 25 operating rooms, five outpatient operating rooms, same day surgery, the post-anesthesia care unit, and seven endoscopy suites. She has extensive experience in perioperative/surgical services and has worked with both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of health care settings.
Huxford holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing. She is also a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
