Celebrated Native Hawaiian artist Solomon Enos recently completed a breathtaking new art installation at The Queen’s Medical Center – Kahi Mohala, Hawaiʻi’s only freestanding nonprofit psychiatric hospital.
The large-scale artwork, located on the basketball court wall, reflects nature as an extension of the land, honors kūpuna, and symbolizes the passing of knowledge and strength to future generations – encouraging children to unlock the treasures within themselves.
As part of the project, Enos invited patients at QMC – Kahi Mohala to participate in the painting process, giving them the opportunity to express themselves and explore their creativity.
“We are grateful to Solomon Enos, the Liliʻuokalani Trust and N30 Studios for this gift, which not only beautifies our campus, but also provides a meaningful experience for our patients and caregivers,” said Sondra Leiggi Brandon, Vice President, Patient Care, Behavioral Health, The Queen’s Health Systems. “This art installation reflects our ongoing commitment to the mission of our founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, to provide in perpetuity, quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all the people of Hawaiʻi.”
The work was completed in just four hours and gifted to QMC – Kahi Mohala through the generosity of the Liliʻuokalani Trust and N30 Studios.
