The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu has been reverified as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) until August 2027. Queen’s remains the first and only Level I Trauma Center in Hawai‘i and the Pacific. This reverification provides validation that the care received at Queen’s meets the highest standards of the ACS.
The Queen’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center cares for approximately 65,000 emergency and 3,000 trauma patients annually, including the most severely injured adults and children in Hawai‘i and the Pacific Basin, and helps lead the State of Hawai‘i Trauma System. Its services encompass the full spectrum of trauma care, from pre-hospital through rehabilitation, to meet the highest national standards for quality.

The verification process is designed to assist hospitals in the evaluation and improvement of trauma care and to provide an objective, external review of institutional capabilities and performance. A team experienced in trauma care assesses the commitment, readiness, resources, policies, patient care, performance improvement, and other relevant features of the program. Level I Trauma Centers provide the highest level of patient care across the injury continuum from prevention through rehabilitation.
