Queen’s Names New VP of HR Operations

The Queen’s Health Systems (Queen’s) has announced the appointment of Heather Ryland, SPHR, as Vice President of Human Resources (HR) Operations.

Ryland will oversee the effective business and operational management of HR, and be responsible for recruitment and retention, workforce training and development, the HR Service Center, HR’s information and reporting system, performance improvement, standards for alignment with organizational policies, and more.

Ryland has extensive experience as an HR and business leader, and is known for fostering a collaborative and engaged, results-driven environment. She most recently served as Senior Director of Talent Acquisition at Hawaiian Airlines/Alaska Air Group. While in that role, she successfully reduced vacancy rates in key, hard-to-hire areas and led workforce transition planning during the merger of the two airlines to ensure alignment of talent management practices.

Ryland lived in California, Massachusetts, and Kansas before moving to Hawai‘i in 2019. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Colorado State University – Global, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with HRCI, the premier credentialing and learning organization for the HR profession.
