Dr. Linda Wong, a General and Transplant Surgeon at The Queen’s Medical Center, has been named a 2025 Healthcare Hero by the Healthcare Association of Hawai‘i. The statewide award honors health care professionals who go above and beyond in providing compassionate, life-changing care for the people of Hawai‘i.

Dr. Wong is celebrated not only for her surgical expertise but also for her empathy and ability to comfort patients facing difficult diagnoses.

One of those patients, Martin Tran, a radiology technologist at Queen’s, says Dr. Wong saved his life. After doctors discovered a growing mass on his spleen, Dr. Wong performed surgery to remove the cancerous organ before it could spread.

“She saved my life,” Tran said. “She’s saved thousands of people, and I want to recognize her for what she’s done.”

Dr. Wong says she strives to build trust with every patient. “You want to make them comfortable,” she said. “You want them to be able to tell you things before you get to all the medical stuff.”

Thanks to her care, Tran recovered quickly and was able to take a long-planned family trip just weeks after surgery.

For her compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication to her patients, Dr. Linda Wong is recognized as one of Hawai‘i’s 2025 Healthcare Heroes.
