5 Star Rating

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its “Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings” for 2022, giving 429 hospitals a rating of five stars, the highest rating possible.  Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital was one of only four hospitals in the state of Hawai’i to receive a five star rating.

CMS assigns star ratings to hospitals nationwide based on 48 performance measures across five quality categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

This year:192 hospitals received a one-star rating, 692 hospitals received a two-star rating, 890 hospitals received a three-star rating, 890 received a four-star rating, and 429 received a five-star rating

“I am pleased that the quality care our staff is providing has been recognized by CMS and that the community can feel safe knowing that they are receiving top quality care when they or their loved ones come to QNHCH for their health care,” said Cindy Kamikawa, RN, President, Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital.
