Comprehensive Genetics Center

The Queen’s Comprehensive Genetics Center (QCGC) provides comprehensive diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, and longitudinal care management for individuals with a wide range of genetic diseases and disorders. Our physicians and genetic counselors provide personalized risk assessments, develop individualized management plans, coordinate family testing, and collaborate closely with each patient’s care team. We see patients at the Queenʻs Medical Centerʻs Punchbowl and West Oʻahu campuses. We also offer telehealth appointments.

Benefits of Genetic Testing

A genetics evaluation can help identify an underlying cause for a patient’s symptom(s). Not only can this provide a name to their health concerns, but a diagnosis can also give insight to potential health concerns, guide medical management, connect patients with appropriate specialists, inform recurrence risks for family members, and provide patients support resources and options for emerging therapies, if available. Our clinical geneticist and team of genetic counselors work collaboratively with referring providers to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated care, and clear answers about their health and can make informed care decisions.

How to Refer

The world of genetics is constantly evolving. Science is frequently making new gene-disease associations. If you are ever unsure if your patient warrants a genetics evaluation, we recommend placing a referral. Our referral triage staff will review the case. If the referral is accepted, our front-desk staff will contact the patient to schedule an appointment. If the referral is declined, our referral triage staff will explain why it was declined and what other options are available for your patient’s care. We are accepting new patient referrals for all genetic indications except: newborn screening, hemoglobinopathies, metabolic disorders, and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS).  Our team will NOT interpret genetic tests that were ordered by a provider outside of QCGC.
