The Queen’s Medical Center-Punchbowl (Queen’s) has been recognized as one of the world’s best hospitals for 2026.

In a list recently released, Newsweek ranked Queen’s as the #99 hospital in the United States, the highest rank for any hospital in Hawaii.  Queen’s also received recognition as being a leader in patient experience, which recognizes hospitals with outstanding performance based on ratings across 10 composite measures of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.

This year’s evaluation, now in its 8th year, included hospitals across 32 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Each hospital was reviewed and given a score based on four data sources:

  • Recommendations from medical experts, including doctors, hospital managers and other health care professionals
  • Hospital quality metrics
  • Existing patient experience data
  • Statista’s Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation Survey.  PROMs are defined as standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life.

“The Queen’s Medical Center-Punchbowl is extremely proud to be recognized by Newsweek as one of the best hospitals in the world and the highest ranked in Hawaii,” said Jason Chang, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Queen’s Health Systems. “This is a very strong showing for our team which proves we are committed to providing our patients with the best care possible.”

Newsweek partnered with Statista, a global market research and consumer data company, to develop the rankings list.
