QNHCH Welcomes Dr. Ryan Shields

Dr. Ryan Shields

QNHCH is pleased to welcome Ryan Shields, MD, to our Women’s Center. Dr. Shields earned his undergraduate degree from Amherst College, MA, and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, MD.  He completed his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, CT, and completed a global health fellowship through the HEAL Initiative at the University of California San Francisco.  Dr. Shields is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Assistant Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawai‘i.

Prior to joining QNHCH, Dr. Shields worked in a variety of settings including clinics and hospitals in Navajo Nation, Uganda, and rural Rwanda. His professional interests include global women’s health, family planning, contraception counseling, LGBTQ+ health, and gynecologic surgery.  In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, yoga, backgammon, crossword puzzles, and traveling.
