Pain & Palliative Care

The Queen’s Medical Center Pain and Palliative Care Department serves the people of Hawai’i through direct patient care, educational support and clinically sound research. Mindful of the human experience of suffering, we serve with compassion, aloha, and respect.

Our Approach

The Pain and Palliative Care Department is committed to relieving pain and suffering and improving quality of life for people living with serious illness. As an interdisciplinary team, we promote quality care by increasing patient comfort, facilitating decision-making and providing an extra layer of support for patients and their families.

Pain Management

Our team of physicians and advanced practice nurses uses its exceptional range of skills, training, and experience to develop individualized treatment plans to manage acute post-operative, post-traumatic, and cancer-related pain for patients hospitalized at The Queens Medical Center.

Palliative Care

Palliative Care is specialized medical care to treat the symptoms and stress caused by a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life. As a team, we work collaboratively to support the care plan of the attending physicians and specialists and facilitate the implementation of treatments aligned with patients’ values and goals of care.
