Be a Volunteer, You Can Make a Difference

Volunteers have been an integral part of The Queen's Medical Center, helping to perpetuate our mission, for more than 150 years. They provide invaluable services, giving from their hearts and assisting in the care of all the people of Hawaii. During an average month, over 300 volunteers donate their time to Queen's patients in nearly 70 nursing units and departments throughout The Queen's Health Systems.

Queen's Volunteers assist with:

  • Comfort rounding
  • Delivery of flowers and gift baskets to patients
  • Emergency Department and Surgery waiting room liaison
  • Gift shop
  • Healing Touch and Reiki
  • In-house crafters
  • Mobile library
  • Musical healing
  • Patient transports and discharging
  • Pet therapy
  • Volunteers in Place
  • Wayfinding

Minimum Volunteer requirements include:

  • Commitment of at least 64 hours
  • Two-step TB (tuberculosis) clearance
  • Orientation session attendance
  • Parental permission (for 15 to 17-year-olds)
  • Agreement to serve with C.A.R.E. (Compassion, Aloha, Respect, and Excellence) to all of our patients
