We treat every patient who walks through our doors with empathy and respect. The nutritionists in our diet support programs give you the educational resources you need to achieve sustained success in losing weight.

Whether you are enrolled as a patient in our non-surgical weight loss program or undergo bariatric surgery, it’s critical to identify the role food will play in your life once you reach your goal weight.

Queen’s weight loss diet support includes:

  • Nutritional Counseling – Learn what to eat and when with our individualized approach to meal planning and education around calorie-conscious food choices.
  • Queen’s QUICK 20 – Queen’s QUICK 20 is a meal replacement program designed to help you lose weight quickly and effectively. Patients preparing for bariatric surgery who need to lose weight sometimes benefit from meal replacement, as do those in our non-surgical weight loss program.

Weight Loss Psychological Support

Counseling has long been used to help patients treat a variety of issues. But did you know that counseling is also an effective treatment for weight loss?

Weight loss counseling begins with the idea that losing weight is as much about your mental outlook as your physical output. Those who suffer from obesity are not weak-willed, but often have mental obstacles that need to be addressed.

Weight loss therapy considers all the psychological and social factors that cause you to overeat.

How Weight Loss Counseling Can Help You Shed the Pounds

In many cases, patients who overeat do so to cope with emotional distress and the daily stresses of life. For example, those suffering with depression may overeat. Weight loss therapy can teach you ways to overcome these feelings without turning to food.

The psychological blocks that prevent you from losing weight are essential to address over the course of your treatment. Bariatric psychologists possess the knowledge to help you overcome mental issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship issues that hamper your weight loss goals

Behavioral therapy for weight loss teaches you coping skills. When you meet with Queen’s Clinical Psychologists and Therapists in Weight Management, you gain access to a non-judgmental listener. As a result of the questions they ask, you achieve greater insight into your feelings and behavior around food.

Putting the insights from a psychological approach to weight loss into practice, you will proactively begin to make better choices in your eating habits.

The Importance of Weight Loss Support Groups

Losing weight is enormously rewarding. Whether you and weight loss specialists decide to go the surgical or non-surgical route, lifestyle changes are an important aspect of maintaining weight loss.

One of the best ways to set yourself up for success after you’ve reached your weight loss goal is to join a support group.

Weight loss support groups give you a chance to:

  • Connect and hear from others who are managing their weight
  • Listen to common challenges and successes
  • Gain insight into potential obstacles on the road to sustaining your weight loss
  • Find comfort in realizing that you are not alone
  • Use your journey to help and inspire others

Support for Weight Loss Surgery

Many of our patients report that support groups help them to achieve long-term success in keeping the weight off after surgery.

With this in mind, Queen’s Weight Loss Program invites all surgical patients to join our Bariatric Support Group.

Specifically designed for patients who had bariatric surgery a year ago or more, our Bariatric Support Group offers you continued education about weight management and helps you build lasting connections with other patients.
