Behavioral Health Services at The Queen’s Medical Center provides comprehensive, compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Rim.

About Us

In collaboration with family members and community organizations, we facilitate outcome and evidence-based treatment for patients in the most appropriate treatment setting. For over 50 years, Behavioral Health Services has demonstrated the ability and commitment to provide psychiatric care to the people of Hawaii. It is our pleasure to provide behavioral health services to the community. We aspire to create an environment that promotes growth and independence for patients, families, and caregivers alike.
 

Services Provided

  • Hospital-based Services

    • Emergency and Consultation-Liaison Services: Psychiatric care provided in Emergency Departments and throughout medical inpatient areas. 
    • Kekela – Inpatient Adult Unit: dedicated to treating the patient, family and each other with dignity and respect, recognizing the value of each person’s uniqueness as contributing to the healing process.
    • Family Treatment Center – Inpatient Children & Adolescent Unit: offer a highly structured, holistic program with a strong emphasis on education, creatively designed to best benefit our keiki, and prepare the patient for a successful transition back into the community. Our staff, comprised of dedicated professionals, maintain a steadfast commitment to the youth served by our facility and deliver quality care in a collaborative manner.
  • Community-based (Outpatient) Programs and Services
    • Day Treatment Services: Outpatient treatment programs for youth and adults who do not need 24/7 psychiatric care but may benefit from structured programming to support a successful recovery.
    • Queen’s Counseling Services: Outpatient programs and services for youth and adults including ongoing psychiatric care including medication management, therapy, and specialized programs such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Our Behavioral Health Psychiatry treatment team is dedicated to treating the patient, family and each other with dignity and respect, recognizing the value of each person’s uniqueness as contributing to the healing process. Our multidisciplinary clinical team includes:

In providing comprehensive care, we partner with Medical Providers, Pharmacists, Dieticians, Nutritionists, Chaplains, and other specialists to meet the individual needs of each patient.
 
Our patients are also support by dedicated, compassionate paraprofessionals who receive specialized training to support safety, skill building, and care coordination. Psychiatric Assistants, Behavioral Health Associates, Administrative Supports are all equipped to collaborate in providing care.
 
Our team holds a variety of specialty certifications and value professional development to stay current with the best practices, often contributing to the growing evidence supporting best practices in behavioral health through research, publication, and presentations. Many of our clinical team also value giving back to the community through advocacy, volunteer opportunities, and academic roles.

The Queen’s Medical Center’s Day Treatment Services is recognized as one of Hawaii’s most comprehensive adult outpatient treatment programs targeting mental health and substance abuse addictions.
